Meeting Kade

A few days ago, we went to visit a family facing a difficult time in their lives. On September 1, 2018, their 10-year-old son, Kade, was diagnosed with Lymphoma. This family lives right here in Palestine. They have four boys. We wanted to take this family a Christmas bag and some Nerf guns to help brighten their day.

The first time we went, we took a LukeStrong care package and some other goodies but we didn’t get to meet Kade . So we were very excited about meeting him.

When we arrived at their house, the Mom walked out and while I was getting their stuff out of the back of my car, Kade walks out and my heart stops. For a minute, I couldn’t leave the back of my car, I began to choke back the tears and prayed , “ God, please help me to do this, please give me the strength.” Kade looked so much like Luke. He was wearing a mask like Luke always wore and had an anti-nausea patch called a scopolamine patch that Luke always wore behind his ear. It just isn’t fair, why should any child go through this? Why should any child have cancer? My human nature was taking over. I had to pull myself together and go meet this precious boy.

I know I hugged him at least twice. He was so excited about getting all the Nerf guns as were his brothers as well. When I handed him the bag, I had printed out a Christmas card with Luke’s picture on it and Kade said, “ He looks just like me!”  Such a sweet family facing one of the most difficult battles they will ever face. But we serve a big God and nothing is impossible with him. Luke 1:37 and His Ways are much higher than ours. Isaiah 55:8-9.“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

God also says in Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

God is taking care of his children. We just have to put our trust in him.

Thank you all once again for supporting the LukeStrong Foundation so that we may bring joy to others.

Thank you Jesus for wrapping your arms around Kade and this sweet family. Help this family to know that you mean well. Give them the grace to bear their child’s illness with patience and strength. Bless them and restore Kade to health. We know that you are with them for you will never leave them nor forsake them. Give them assurance of your loving kingdom.

Loving Lord Jesus, You are the good Shepherd of the sheep and You are the One Who carries the little lambs in Your arms – and gently cares for those that are weak and afraid. Lord it is so hard to watch a child in distress and feel helpless to aid them – but I pray Lord that You would safely carry this little child and tend to Him  as only You can.

I lift up precious Kade to You and ask for Your healing power to permeate through his body and return him to radiant health and strength. Relieve all the symptoms of this unpleasant illness that has invaded this little body – guard him from danger and may he respond to Your healing touch on his life.

Thank You that You are a God Who cares and loves little children and that You hear and answer prayers. Keep this precious lamb enfolded in Your arms and resting on Your bosom and raise him back to full health I pray – and we will give You all the thanks and praise for You alone are worthy.

Amen
